Upper PCV Hose Replacement

7 posts in this topic

2007 V70R. My upper PCV hose is split completely through in two different places. It is the original plastic one; I have the new Volvo rubber replacement hose in hand. My question...

Is it possible to replace the hose without removing the intake manifold? I removed the cover and I can see where the hose connects at the bottom end, I just don't see an easy way in there. Hoping to avoid a trip to the mechanic.

I have seen elsewhere that I should consider having the whole PCV system serviced. Might make sense if I don't do the hose and some one else does the removal of the whole intake, etc.

Remove the intake , it takes about 1-2 h to replace the whole PCV system :)

Remember the screws in the bottom row on the intake you just need to loosen not remove. then just lift the intake up :) the hardest part is the water cooling hoses on the side of the intake :)

I did the job and t was a PIA cause of the banjo bolt .  I will say I had no issues with coolant leaking and made up plugs to prevent it leaking.  the manifold bolt by the water pump does not need to come all the way out, just noch the gasket when you put a new one on.  I forgot where I found it but hunt the internet or this site for a great DIY with instructions.  if you do it you may as well clean the TB and although i am sure other will have better advise than me.  I found the hard plastic air hose from the IC to the TB was cracking at the accordion  section and i refused to put it back on.  although I am sure you could do it as a much faster job than mine, but i really took my time to inspect stuff .. make sure you check the bottom hole in the block for oil sludge.. again I really do advise hunting this topic of DIY to get all the details and things to look for.  Good luck.  although I did the job about 1.5 years ago I am happy to share what i remember if you need.
