rear seat belt will not extend out (but there is plenty of slack)

5 posts in this topic

Hi gang --- one my my rear seatbelts won't extend out.

The seat-backs are folded UP (not down) so this is not a case where I need to introduce more slack by undoing the bottom seat belt bolt.... (actually I did that anyways but it didn't fix the problem).

Anyone ever go through this before? I've included some picture ---- but those are just pictures of my rear seat looking normal --- the seat belt won't pull out.

I did did undo the plastic caps and the tore screws on the side plastic but couldn't figure out how to get the plastic cover off.
Thanks.

Try moving the seatback through all 3 of it's positions. (Both up positions and straight down with the seat-base folded up.) I had the same thing happen once and this little exercise reset the belt. Might take a few attempts. Good luck!

Common for these belts to bind-up and cause grief.

As Bellerophon suggested, give the seat a few bumps in the layflat position to see if you can release the retracter mechanism and load limiter from its stuck position.

If that doesn't work, you'll need a new mechanism.
