Looking into picking up a V70R

5 posts in this topic

Hey guys,

I've been contemplating getting a v70R for at least a year, but have been getting more serious about it lately to keep the miles off my other cars.

Originally I planned on holding out for an 04-07 v70R with a manual, but I found a ridiculously cheap and very clean 99' v70R locally.

I'm considering picking it up and doing a manual conversion, but keeping the awd. Which from my research seems possible, correct?

Anyways, what would swedespeed do?  convert this one or hold out for a later v70r with manual

Thanks in advance!

Welcome!

Swedespeed?! Not sure if you are in the right place...

If you are planning on modding the car, the earler R's are much simpler and cheaper to work on.

Plus there are plenty of parts to coose from

The 2004 + cars are more software driven, but feature packed.

Whoops,  meant to write volvospeed/V70r...  I had looked there first, but you guys seem to have more info on the earlier Rs.

I'm seriously considering the older R even though its an auto. I prefer the earlier interior to the later ones.

I know I'll mod it, none of my cars stay stock long.

My biggest concern would be the manual conversion, it seems kinda difficult to source the parts for the earlier Rs, no? especially if I want to keep the awd.
