Hey guys my wife and I are due our first child in mid March. We just found out yesterday it's a boy! Can't wait to have a little helper in the garage like my dad had with me...
Anyway, we are looking to replace my wife's '03 Honda Accord v6 coupe. It's a nice car (sans the trany rebuild) but she is a bit worried about loading him in and out of the back seat and she doesn't want to use the front seat. I'm not even sure if that is legal in VA.
So we've been looking for a new wagon/SUV/minivan. We'd like to get something that isn't too much bigger then the Accord, with the same power to weight ratio. Same level of goodies, safety and lux... And something at is good on gas, and gets better mileage then my R with 16 MPG. I'd like to get either AWD or RWD if we can, and something with similar power to weight ratio to my R, and same level of goodies and lux and safety. Also we would prefer used or certified used to new.
She's told me that she's not that into the Volvos, but she like the XC60, I need help convincing her to get one. I think she doesn't like the turbo lag in my car, so I was thinking going for a test drive in LPT to see how she likes that. She said she liked the look of the newer v70R, but I'm not sure if I want another Volvo project. I'm not that big on the Japanese car, the only reason I'd get on is they are cheap and reliable and easy to TUNE! I'd also like to stay way from Korean's. I just think they are so rinky-dink, and I can afford a cheap Japanese car I don't have to settle for a cheaper Korean car... We are also going to try and pay for this outright and not have to make payments if we don't have too. So keeping the cost down is also a goal.
So far on the list is...
Subaru Forester XT, either a '07-08 Sport or the current version. Either way I want a turbo on this thing, can you say XTi? Only thing is she doesn't want it in WR blue!
BMW 3 and 5 series wagons. Not the current model but maybe the last series. Maybe even a X3, I've heard it's not that great, doesn't drive like a car and isn't a truck... But we like the size and safety and goodies on it.
Volvo XC60
Mercedes Benz wagon or GLK, I would LOVE the GLK or an AMG wagon, too bad we don't get the new versions...
At the bottom of my list is the Minivans. Not really impressed by any of them except maybe the new Odyssey or the Sienna SE (Swagger wagon) And if she wants one we are getting it..
So far that's the list. We've only been talking about it for a few weeks so I've not had a lot of time to research much. So I figure I'd ask you guys since I'm not plugged in to new cars anymore... We are open minded about other cars so if you have a suggestion that falls out of what we've been thinking about, please enlighten us... Any help of advice is greatly appreciated!

I think Chris owned a 90 and a 60 IIRC. I don't know him too well, but I could as him, he is local to me.
And Ghostshadow is a DOUCHE! That f-er almost ran into me when I was at Adams house for a GTG couple years ago. He was turning right from a center lane, right in front of me! No turn signal, no hey let me in I'm turning, and he's got a vert! I think he just did it cause he's stupid. He was stalking Adam later that night too. Folks heard his stereo driving up and down Adams street a couple times that night. Dave and I were railing on him for doing stupid crap like driving with all his strobes on and then not using his turn signals when he's cutting over on a fellow VS member. WTF!!!
I think when he came up to us at Carlisle giving out his stickers to make peace, but he's still afraid of me...

i've only had limited experience with him but i remember like 5 years ago at a stillman meet, i chuckled at him quite a bit.
he hasn't cut me off yet, but he's been OK with me recently. having a kid or two sure straighten you out. ......You'll see.

Have her drive an XC60, she will be impressed!
Compared to the overweight 8 year old design XC90 it's a delight.
I like them A LOT
The ONLY thing an XC90 has over a 60 is a 3rd seat, otherwise there is no good reason to own one

That's what my dad warned me about too.

All the best!

We looked hard at xc90's dude and honestly for the size you may want to look at an Acura MDX, that's what we ended up with.
