Yeah I shot X-Cote an email already, waiting to hear back about the possibility of becomming a retailer.

Called X-kote and they don't do retail but referred me to a detailer in Surrey. X-Kote says the product needs to be applied by professional detailer. Bean/Rabin says he paid $300 in SK so I guess it will be somewhere near that in BC but I will call the detailer to see how much he wants.

Yes, very friendly guys indeed, turns out an X-Cote authorized user is popping up here in MA, going to give them a shout and get the car in for the treatment. I can't wait!

Hey guys - I had given Jeramiah a link to the post, and he sent me the following words of caution:

Rabin you may want to make a post on the volvo site for guys looking to have there cars done. Make sure they ask to see how long the shop has been doing X-Kote and see if they have any pics of some of there work. I have done over 600 cars this year so I have allot of experience in application and problem solving. My finishes will come out better than most installers hence Marc ( X-Kote's president) sends me to a lot of places to set up new dealers and do live demos for large franchises such as CarMax and Meguirs. If the shop is new and just starting up I would let guys know to maybe wait a little bit until they get there feet wet with the applications. The 1st few can be tough to put down properly and I would hate to see a guy pay good money and get a bad result purely because of inexperienced installers. When done right this product is amazing as you have witnessed 1st hand.

I still recommend this HIGHLY - but it makes sense since I found out about this through word of mouth.

Good luck! And for the record - it was $249 + tax (~$278)

Rabin

On the subject of hand applied or wipe on paint renewal systems that restore the color and gloss to faded or scratched paint, here is another company that will sell you their product direct to do yourself, unlike x-cote and restorfx which will not. you have to buy a franchise for $48,000 to get it or even get an MSDS sheet. The company is http://vivilon.com they have been around more than 30 years. I did an old VW for a buddy with it and it looked great!
