Can't seem to locate it in the owners manual. Can anyone provide some direction as to what it means? I can't find any bulbs that are out.

Hi all,

Am new to the forum and looking to replace my 855 T5. Still a great car with 350k Kms, but something big has to go wrong at some point. Are there any 2007 V70Rs with low miles out there for sale? Am looking for any color with tan interior. Navigation, audio upgrade and booster seat preferred. Anyone aware of any?

Thanks in advance for any help,

Hi all, hoping someone can help me out. I found a nice used oem hitch, and will be installing it on my 07 v70r. I have been searching high and low for the v70 specific template but have had no luck. I know several people here have done the install, maybe one of you kept the template, thanks

Reduced Engine Performance & Anti skid service - oh no!

For the first time yesterday the car gave me some grief.

Started the car, cranked, hiccuped and fired-up.
After that it was runing like a PoS... Limp home mode.
Not to mention in the DIM lit up with those wonderful vague alerts:
Reduced Engine Performance & Anti Skid Service Required...

Oh no - here we go

On the other hand, I knew cranking the car was getting progessively worse and worse.
It was the orginal battery that came with the car - 8 yrs of service - that's pretty good!!!

Anyway, organised a new battery.
Battery was installed, charging system tested and all good.
Fired up instantly and best of all no error messages.

Looks like I caught it before the dying battery caused any more gremlins.
Moral of the story - always check your battery is sound when tracing issues.

Trent

Postscript
the electrical engineers at work wondered what was going on in the carpark.
They had never seen a batter in a boot (trunk) before.
While I was waiting for the battery dude to rock-up they wanted to explore what the issue was.

Out they trundle a high speed osciliscope, connect her up and start the car.
Before starting the battery looked fine, good volts and normal current draw - however on start-up there was a surge and huge drop in voltage in a few milliseconds.
Apparently that sends the various control modules into meltdown and throws codes.
Gotta love the propeller heads at work

Love it ! 6 Speed Manual, Black!
But, it has a cpouple squawks:

Nav System DVD Player appears broken. Previously owner is going to compensate me to get it fixed at Car Toys, a Colorado Car Electronics Dealer. Says it needs a new DVD player at cost of about $200. I appreciate any insights on this.

Drivers side seat heater started to overheat when I turned it on this morning. All of a sudden my leg is burning hot, and I see smoke coming up from under the seat. Turned it off obviously! No visible damage. Any ideas? I am going to pull the fuse for now.

Thanks for all your inputs!

Which extended warrenty to choose?

I need to make a decision on extended warrenty for my 2006 R in the near future. Based on my driving pattern I'll likely go for the 84 month / 110 km option. The difference in price between the $0 deductible option and the $200 deductible option is $1351. By my calculation the break even point is approx. 2.25 repairs of $200 or more per year. Is it likely I'll pay more than $450 per year in deductible when my R is in its 5th - 8th year?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric 2 size help.

I have switched to 18 inch Pegs 2 sets of Goodyear F1 GSD3 Size 235/40/18s. They do rub on full turns at the end of the turn but seem to not bother me much since I try to avoid the full turn if I can.

I am close to buying the F1 asymmetric 2 and thought I would ask about size selections since there does seem to be several. At first i only saw a limited selection especially with the 18 inch rims but noticed another article with more options.

I see they have the following in 18s.

225/40R18 XL 92Y
235/40R 18 XL 95Y

I am assuming the 235/40Rs would be the best to stay with.

I am paying $1200 installed for 4 of the 235/40s. Sound fair?

Comments welcome and appreciated since I should change the tires over the next 3-4K miles.

BTW: I never take these to the mountains or cold and snow.

Damage to potential V70R purchase - dealbreaker?

I'm considering buying an '07 V70R, but since I live some distance from where it is being sold, I have not had a chance to view it in person. The salesman says its in great condition except for some damage to the chin spoiler, which he thinks is purely cosmetic. He says that his dealership is not willing to spend a lot of money on a fix. He sent pictures of the damage (attached). I understand that this kind of damage is not unusual because of how low the car is. I'd be grateful for any input from any of you experienced folks on how serious the damage appears based on the photos, and whether the damage should be a dealbreaker.

Thanks in advance.

Tires for V70R

Hey - so I am buying new tires this weekend and have this dilemma. My #1 choice was always the Conti DWS - but they are on backorder wherever I go and there doesn't seem to be a timeline on when I can even get them.

That said, I've been reading reviews on the Michelin Pilot Sport and the Bridgestone Potenza's. Do any of you guys have experience with these tires? Would you recommend any other tires for Seattle weather? I'm looking for a good all-season tire - good in rain and light snow - and my driving won't be nearly as aggressive with a newborn on the way.

Any info would be much appreciated!

Clutch problem, OR No ? ?

My clutch has been acting up, it just Goes away when in gear. Meaning it feel's like somebody popped it out of gear on me. Funny thing is, 1-Pedal Doesn't stick to the floor, 2-There's NO lose of brake fluid in the master, 3-it always comes back & works for awhile.

I've ran across numerous clutch issue's over the years, but this one has me stumped. Do I want to pull the trans out. . . .Hell no, but if I have to I have to. problem for me is . . . .I Really don't think this is another failed slave cylinder. Here's what happens. Start the car up & put it in gear. at this point the clutch feels normal. (it pretty much feel's normal all the time)Once in gear you can let the clutch out Completely & Nothin, car doesn't move, you can row thru all the gears & you get the same thing. put it in Any gear & rev the motor up to 3-4 grand & BANG, it engages. now you can move the car around abit. but sooner or later all of a sudden you have nothing again. rev her up & you get the same thing. Being as there hasn't been a drop on the ground, nor is there any missing from the brake master I'm beginning to wonder if it could be the clutch master. Has anybody ran into anything similar ?

Mine's an 06 w/ 31K on it. Garage queen for the most part. very Very bizarre.

Recently bought a V70R, on the test drive the drivers side climate control didn't respond to any temperature inputs. It only puts out room temperature at any setting and the fan blows 1/4 as hard as the passenger side. The Volvo dealer promised to fix it and diagnosed it as a servo issue. That didn't fix it so i brought it back to the shop and they put their "best mechanic" on the job. They claimed they discovered the thermostat that was clogged and the the fan motor was gummed up. They claimed they replaced all of these parts and a week later I picked it up with the same exact problem. Then they went to tune it up and it made it worse, now the drivers side doesn't blow out any air. I was pressed for time and had to bring the car down south. Any troubleshooting ideas?

I have just read and now become aware of the multiple posts with similar cases. What a pain that a $50 dollar item catastrophic failure ends up costing 40 times its value.

Not being too familiar yet with the R, which I bought a year ago from the original owner, I have 2 questions:

1) Is it worth trying to find non-OEM shoes because the non-OEM tend to fail less than the OEM ones ? Or as long as the shoes are replaced every 2-3 years it is ok to go with any type/source of shoes ?

2) Given the huge labor cost, what other parts is it worth replacing in there even if not showing failure yet ? Are the wheel bearings part of the disassembly for this job ? I read that those tend to fail on Rs too, and the car has a howling type noise when going at 40 mph or more.

For reference the car has 75k miles. And besides the high maintenance cost, it has been a blast to drive.

Thanks,
Andy
P.S.: The moral of the story seems to be that if you haven't checked/changed your shoes since several years ago, do it sooner rather than later. If I had known it....

Starter not working

I have been having problems starting, once rare but now frequent. I turn the key and nothing. I acts like there is a dead spot on the starter but after talking to the service rep at Stillman, he suggested that it might be the wire to the solenoid being loose. He said that there are three wires going to the starter. Two heavies and one to the solenoid. I have tried to find these but cannot even find the starter. Any suggestions?
